Got a great price on the exact product I needed. It cost less to buy new than fix the washing machine I had.

This worked well for 1.5 years, then I started getting error codes that requires me to restart loads. This happens for 1 out of 4 loads or so. After research I found that I have to take the pump out and clean it, also disconnect sensors and clear out lines. This buys me a couple weeks then I have to repeat. I would expect this to not happen for many years after buying a washer of this quality. Others have similar issues - do a search on error codes F03 and E01 for more examples.

I purchased a Maytag (MHW5500FC) front load washer and dryer 2 years ago. I gave the product a high rating at the time. I’m writing a new review to reflect current experience. I feel an expensive washer like this unit should last more than two years. I use it once a week, not every day. I feel the Maytag commercials and warranty are very deceptive. Why? The commercials and warranty suggest a long-lasting quality product. I would expect 5-year minimum life, but for $1,300 and 2 years of usage, you can buy a cheaper $650 unit every year or $300 model every 6 months. It’s probably more economical to send everything to the cleaners or laundry service. This unit was selected based on Consumer Reports high rating. Consumer reports should go back and find out what percentage of customers have unit failures in the 2-5 years. I would like to find out how many other customers experience expensive repairs within the first 5 years of ownership. If Maytag feels the quality is so good, the 10 year limited parts warranty should be on all components, not just replacement of the motor and tub. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend a Maytag front load washer. Consumer Reports: I'm planning to write a letter to the executives at consumer reports asking for a follow-up survey of customer who purchased similar high rated Maytag front load washers and how long before the units failed. Maytag is owned by Whirlpool. I hope this review helps those of you planning to purchasee a front load washer.

Maytag is amazing. I absolutely Love them. We moved from our home to a new home we built. I had A Maytag set for 18 years with out a minutes trouble and so when it came to choosing a new set for our new home, there was no doubts about which brand I was going to select.

Mold build up in the soap tray and holder
